Sorry about not writing for a while...here goes the last week and a half!

Tuesday March 12th

Today Vicky, Elaine and I booked our trip for Easter! We decided on a tour of 5 cities in China including Shanghai and Nanjing and other places that I forget the name. It's for 7 days....so I'll be missing some school (again)..but it's all good cuz I think that the travel is so worth experiencing! I'm excited...but I don't want to have any expectations...it's better that way.  It should be interesting considering how none of us speak fluent Cantonese or Mandarin....it should be an adventure!

Wednesday March 13th

We had a presentation in Asian Business today....I prepared for the whole night and was all ready to go..but we ran out of time so Vicky and I had to really rush at the end and I don't even know if anyone heard me cuz I was talking sooo fast.  Anyway, I had dinner at Khovinoor with my host again (Mr. Ungvari).  Have I wrote about him? Well, he is my host here in Hong Kong...he is really nice...he's a psychiatrist just like my dad! He's also an associate prof. of psychiatry at the school....I felt I had to add that part in...otherwise it just seems like I have a shrink everywhere I go cuz I have severe mental problems when I don't...I swear I don't.  After that Steven, Ben, Terry, Elvira, Kelly and ofcourse Vicky went to Pink Mao Mao in Happy Valley.  It was kinda funny cuz after we spent forever getting there, we get to the fuckin door only to have one of those fake British accent chicks at the door telling us that there was a "private party" and that we had to know somebody..blah blah....we ended getting in cuz someone knew somebody and whatever. All in all, it was worth the hassle....why you ask???? Let's just say it was 'model' night....LOTS of HOT looking boys... Yeah...so my eyes were a bit busy looking around...no touching..just looking   After all that madness, VIcky, Ben and I were hungry...so we asked some random dude where to eat...and being the gentleman that he was...took us and even paid for our cab ride to get food.  His name was Telly....yes....Telly! He was really cool...very interesting and well travelled....he was in the midst of promoting some new singer called Leslie Lo or something...never heard of her..maybe in the future!  Anyway, it was cool and we finally headed home just in time to get like 2 hours before we had to get up again for class!

Thursday March 14th

Today I went to the good ol' waxing lady!!!! Elaine was a good sport and kept me company while I was there.  I also picked up mine and Vicky's multi entry visa...this allows to travel around China without having to pay everytime and it is unlimited!!!! Nice.  At night, we went to the Andy Hui singing concert and singing contest.  The contestants were all great! Wow, I was really impressed by the singing....I was even more impressed by one particular HOT singer!  All the contestants had to choose one person from the audience to play a game on stage...and guess who picked ME????? yes...the HOT boy!!!!! I was so excited! I was up on stage and waving to the international crew and just about the whole auditorium like I was famous or something...it was so funny! I did not end up winning musical chairs, although I thought I would considering I had the biggest ass....but it did not come through for me.  I did, however, win a gift bag of Nescafe coffee and mugs.  After that, we went to Shatin for late night food with some other people...then hit 7/11 for some Strobe....Abdul, Kevin, Vicky and I just chilled in the "quad" (a courtyard thing that is in the middle of all our dorms) and talked about stuff (mostly relationships) until about 5am or something.  It was insightful.

Friday March 15th

When Vicky and I decided to get our asses out of bed, we went to Shenzhen (which is in China) so I could get my student visa stamped....and do a bit of shopping ofcourse....and we did just that! Damn, we got some good deals....the trick is only offering like 1/4 of what they say and you end up getting a bargain somewhere in there.  Some places are really sketchy...especially when the lady pulls out stuff from UNDERNEATH the floor boards! It's always an adventure there....especially since we had to be escorted by one of the security dudes to find the immigration thing on the way back home.....we looked like we were in trouble and were getting detained...it was soooo funny!  When we finally got home, we went to Lai Kwai Fung for Natalie's b-day... we basically barhopped around....got taped by some random TV station dancing in the middle of the street....I REALLY hope no one sees it back home...especially my parents!  Anyway, we had a good time....

Saturday March 16th

Vicky and I had another late wake up day....we were supposed to get up early to go to Lantau Island for a birthday jam in a rented house...but since the weather was shitty, we decided to take it easy and leave late afternoon.  We were chillin and doing okay on the subway and ferry ride over...but hell broke loose when we got to the bus station on the island....we sort of missed the last bus to our destination (Tong Fok)....but we ended up finding another bus that took us there. After Vicky pissed off the bus driver by harassing him about telling us when our stop is, we got off at the right stop and walked and walked looking for the "signs" that were supposed to be posted along the way....but since we didn't see any, we kinda ended up at the prison...which was so not exciting to be at considering it was pitch black and it was only 2 of us.  So, we had to resort to calling Abdul to come rescue us..which he did after scaring us about being on the wrong island (that was not funny Abdul).  Anyway, Vicky and I were pretty happy that we took long to get there considering we were not feelin the vibe there anyway.  All I can say is that I'm glad we brought our own booze and we ate beforehand, otherwise I would have been one hungry and boring girl.  We chilled for a bit...talked to people from school and some other schools too...danced...took pix....went to the beach....slept on a rock on the beach (due to the lack of unlocked rooms!)....stayed awake till 7am and finally caught the bus to go home....had McDonald's for breakfast...went to bed at 10am!

Sunday March 17th

NOthing exciting...just studied and ordered pizza

Monday March 18th

Nothing....oh.....I called my brother Rahim "the dream" for his birthday after talking to Ratha until 5am...my brother was really happy....well he did a good job of pretending he was if he wasn't!

Tuesday March 19th

Nothing...just studied for Mandarin....

Wednesday March 20th

Had dicatation in Mandarin..did ok...not great....went to eat Japanese food...saw Queen of the Damned..not too impressed by the movie...really only went to go see it cuz Abdul wanted to see Aaliyah...he was pleased though.  We ate again at Ruby Tuesday cuz it was Ben's b-day....I ate shrimp and calamari, and ofcourse my favourite chicken fingers....oh...and some really good dessert!

Thursday March 21st

Today has been pretty uneventful...but it's only 5:30.  I am going to Khana since it's my new year today! Navroz Mubarak to everyone...gotta get going....latez

PRETEND THIS IS FROM MONDAY MARCH 11...THIS SITE REALLY MESSED ME UP...

We couldn't do a cultural event on Friday since Vicky and I had a stupid tutorial in the middle of the day.  The tutorial is for our History of brown people in HK course and it is pretty interesting sometimes.  This is what typically happens...the locals will ask us (me and Chirantan the brown guy and Victoria) something and we will have no idea what they are asking, so we will talk about whatever we want about brown people in Canada or the US....and when we ask them a question, they will talk about god knows what and no one is getting answers they want...but it is informative nonetheless!  Ahhh...that night I finally went to Khana (Church)...it was really really small....like 25 people, but it felt soooo good to go! It was just like home and I felt good being there.  After that, while I was waiting for some people in brown town where Khana is...I walked around by myself aimlessly.  Since I am usually with a whole bunch of people, I never get the chance to people watch...so I felt this was a great time to observe people and the surrounding and what not....it was kinda nice to do! I went to a Starbucks and sat with someone random cuz there was no seats and struck up conversation with some dude...he was cool...he is a photographer and likes to read and surf!  Pretty cool.  Anyway, I eventually met up with Natalie, Vicky, Ben and Chirantan and we just chilled at the harbour.

On Saturday Vicky and I were supposed to go to Macau, but being the lazy asses that we are...we slept in and were not in very good moods that day....but we ended up going to the Tai Po Waterfront Park with Ben and Chirantan....we even flew a kite...well, the guys did....they managed to get it up!!!!!!!!  We went to Hard Rock for Kevin's birthday...I had amazing chicken fingers...danced and chilled for a bit...good ol' time....

Sunday and today have been all about the school work...whatever...and I don't feel like writing anymore...I'm going to bed...ZZZZZZZZZZ

Can you believe that it's March already???? Where has the time gone? All I know is that the time is just flying by here in Hong Kong...Vicky and I were thinking about this last Thursday, and we felt that we might not be taking full advantage of our time here. So, we got down to business and decided that we really needed to do more 'cultural' things and go sightseeing. Luckily, the girl who stayed in my room last semester left pamphlets on the various districts in Hong Kong and tourist places to go. We used those and came up with a plan to visit a different district on Friday's and Saturday's. that evening, we witnessed the Tug of War between the different residences in my college (Chung Chi).  It was really cool cuz each dorm had it's own cheer and noisemaker things...my dorm (which is unfortunately all girls) along with our brother residence has won 8 years in a row..so they had some pressure on them...but they came through and kicked some ass! That night we also went to Ing (yes again!) and partied up as we always do! Well....we partied after we helped some girl who was found passed out on the TOILET find her friend to take her home. It was really weird cuz the girl was not throwing up in the stall or anything....she was just pretty much unconscious or something...it was not cool.
Friday was our first trial 'culture' day, and it was a success! We went to a district called Kwai Tsing, which is near the airport. We first entered Maritime Square, which is a shopping mall, so we decided that we would save that for last since we could probably spend the whole day in there! So, we headed for Tsai Ling (or something like that) park. It was really beautiful. We hung out there for a bit and discovered a little playground....and we just had to play in it! I don't know who else besides Vicky and I would go on a playground regardless of the fact that we are much to big (well, at least I am), but we are 22 going on 23 years old and have not outgrown it! Anyway, we had a great time and saw so many cute kids. Then, we went to the Lantau View Point. This place is really really nice! It has a magnificent view of these 2 bridges and the island. So we just chilled there for a while and enjoyed the scenery. On the way back to the mall, we had a little trouble with the taxi driver. He somehow got the impression we were going somewhere else by the man who ordered us the cab, so he was PISSED when we were going back to the mall...yeah...so he was swearing and stuff like that....but, nevertheless, we got to our destination...the mall! I only bought a piano book that has the top songs of 2000...I'm so excited to play some of these songs...I just have to find the time to use play the piano...but there is one in my dorm, so I really should not make excuses!  Vicky and I found this really cool restaurant called Chili Sark...it had dishes from Thailand, Malaysia and ofcourse INDIA!!! It was a really cool concept...I would totally open one up back in Toronto if I had the chance.  Anyway, after the long day that we had...I decided to stay home (for the FIRST Friday night since I have been here) and I talked to Ratha the whole night.

On Saturday...Danny, Vicky and I went to a place called Lantau Island.  We had to take a ferry and all that...it was a very bumby ride! We took a never ending bus up to the big Buddha.  It was very beautiful...and huge! We took like a million stairs to get up to the statue, but was well worth it.  I felt this weird, calming sensation up there....I like to think it was somewhat spiritual, but it could have been the lack of oxygen cuz we were up so high!  We ate at a vegetarian restaurant that was so yummy and walked through some place that upon exiting saw a sign that said "tourists do not enter"....whoops! Well, it was not our fault, the other side of it was written in chinese when we entered.  We headed back home after a long day and ate at Ruby Tuesday's...one of those overpriced American places that you can't help but go to once in a while.  We also watched Beautiful Mind.....if you have not seen this movie...go see it! It was really good...despite the fact that I am still struggling with the whole pay for the movie issue...pardon me for ALWAYS mentioning this...but I will never get over it!

Sunday was hell day since I had to study for my Mandarin oral exam...not fun.  i attempted to polish my skills by taking an online learning lesson...don't ever bother with them...it was fun to do though...but really provided no help!  In the end, I really messed up the exam. I kept messing up and just got really nervous and flustered.....but the examiner dude was really nice...but I still did horrible.  On top of all that, we had another dictation on Wednesday for Mandarin!(which went well). So you could basically say my whole week was consumed by this dumb ass language course...argggggghhhh! My only happiness in those three days was watching The Practice on TV (which is something that I never do at home!) and cheering for Abdul (aka Abs of Steel) while he was playing tennis in this tournament...which another team won unfortunately...we still love you anyway Abs!

Thursday was Tony's birthday bash.  We went to some outside dinner thingy in Shatin...it was nice...there was about 40 or so people....and most of us went to....yup that's right....ING! God I LOVE that place! Another great night....this time no brown dudes tried to talk to me...thank god! On the other hand, some people were also being snobby....so I guess there always a balance of some sort.  Victoria displayed her "Mackrobatic" (Macking) skillz by stipping 5 guys of their shirts!!! Go Vicky....you make me proud!  Oh, and I came up with such a good way to get one of your guy friends to get with a girl they think is hot: okay, so the girl will be dancing and since she is so pretty (hence your friend wanting her) some OTHER dude will probably be trying to dance with her...but your friend is obviously way better...so you go to her and ask her if she needs a saviour or pretend boyfriend and that is where your guy friend can get with her while looking all heroic and nice!!!!!! Although I tried this with one of my friends and we had 2 failed attempts...I think it has so much potential! What do you think? yeah...I think it is great too!

Ahhhh¡Kwow¡KI had such a yucky week in terms of tests and shit¡K.my Mandarin test on Monday went HORRIBLE¡K.I made up random characters¡K.oh well.  After that dreadful test, I learned about the different types of brown people in my history class¡Kit was interesting to see how people react when you tell them that there is more than one type¡K.it¡¦s even better when the teacher shows the ugly pictures of us ¡§Indians¡¨¡K.we have some really beautiful people, but they ALWAYS show THE worst ones on T.V, in movies and in books and shit¡Kwhy you got to hate on the brown people??????? Ha. Soooooo, that night the ¡§International Club¡¨ had a ¡§Chinese Valentine¡¦s¡¨ thing¡KI was going to say dinner, but since there was NO food¡Kit was just a thing.  Oh, first Vicky and I watched the dance club practice their routine over some Strobe (our favourite alcoholic drink)¡Kback to the thingy¡K.we talked among the exchange students and I met some local students too.  There was a picture taking thing¡Kso I took some with Erica, Vicky and Sam (the I-club president).  Since there was no food, us girlz ordered pizza and chatted the night away.

Tuesday was crunch day for my mid term in Asian Business¡Kbut of course I slacked off as usual.  I just had to go to the IASP office and check for my much delayed Valentine¡¦s package¡Kwhich STILL has not arrived¡K.and after being let down, Vicky and I bought more alcohol and snacks we could study¡K.which we tried to do¡Kbut if anyone was on MSN that night or saw Vicky and I drinking on the steps and eating pizza (again), knows that is not what I was doing!  So, I basically got screwed on my exam this morning, but for some reason just did not care as much as I would if I was home¡Kmaybe cuz I am on a pass/fail system here¡Kwho knows! I still want to learn and do well though, never know if I will have to submit these grades for my MBA application one day!  Or maybe my day wasn¡¦t so bad cuz Ratha called me this morning after we had a ¡§phone break¡¨ for a few days¡K.I was apparently being more bitchy and stuff¡Kcould be PMS¡Kcould be that I¡¦m changing¡KI think it was just PMS¡Kso anyway, we talked this morning before my exam and everything is cool¡Kit really made me happy! On a negative note, I had Mandarin class and we were practicing for our oral exam, which is on Monday.  Can you say DEAD¡K.that¡¦s me¡KI¡¦m hoping the teacher won¡¦t  be too hard on me¡KI¡¦m brown after all¡K.doesn¡¦t that give me some leeway?  I feel bad for Vicky¡KI hope she tells the examiner dude that she is Korean first so that he doesn¡¦t think she is Chinese and have too many expectations!!!!! Poor Wallee (aka Vicky).

Well, I made plans with Erica, Vicky and Elaine to go jogging¡K.I hope we don¡¦t get too lazy and back out¡KI REALLY need to exercise¡K.I¡¦m eating so much bread and it¡¦s all going to the thighs and ass¡Kand although Ratha loves this¡KI don¡¦t feel like being a tubba lard¡K.so I think I HAVE to go!

Yes, I'm writing again in the same day...I guess I'm really trying to avoid my Mandarin studying and stuff! Anyway, we had an HK Warriors BBQ today...special shout out to Ita and Danny who put it together...it was very thoughtful and the food was great...besides the fact that Danny almost made me eat pork...thanks Danny!  Anyway, Vicky and I just had a wonderful heart to heart (another tactic to avoid studying) over some alcohol...I guess we are just wondering what our real purpose of being here is and how we can make the most of it....and some other stuff...but that's between us.  All I have to say is THANK YOU Victoria for helping me and lending me your ears everyday when I'm bitching and shit....and know that I'm here whenever you need me babe! I'm really lucky to be here with you and thank God we are not scrapping (knock on wood)!

Okay, I believe we are actually going to start studying for our Putonghua/Mandarin test tomorrow....and it's only 1:30am....we are FUCKED!
